Manas-Manthan

The Air India staff has been heard asking the passengers to ask all those in Mumbai, planning a trip to Prayagraj, to stop planning to come now for Kumbh Mela. They are in distress. They say that on a meagre salary ( amount not quoted) they are overdelivering. I looked at the staff member, her hair was unkempt, her eyes were tired and her spirit was fatigued. I imagined, how rushed she would’ve felt everyday and bogged down with endless check-ins from a sea of devotees inundating the city day in and day out, wanting to take a dip in the holy Ganges.

This Kumbh mela has affected people’s lives in so many ways, one would never know of.

Everyone has made business.

And there are some who’re waiting for business to start, crowd to clear up, schools to open, colleges to reopen, so that businesses can resume.

I’m carrying Kumbh water and some mementos with me and I think the courier services will make good business too.

The counters have run out of snacks

Joining  the long and winding Satvik meal line seems futile, I’ll never make it to the counter. 😏 I settle for just coffee.  I have had a fist of dry fruits with this coffee so far, since morning. I’m hungry now and my pit is asking for some grub.

I’m dreaming of Tibbs Frankie Roll at 30000 feet above sea level. :D

And contemplating whether I should have it  after reaching home or before. :D

I headed straight to the Tibbs booth after I land.

My son calls me to tell me how he cannot handle the cook’s niceness anymore and that I should come back home quickly… The cook who insists on you having food when it’s still warm. She insists he should have paranthas when they’re still ‘garam-garam and asks after every meal made, “kaisa tha?” like a novice expecting a compliment each time she cooks.

I close my eyes and thank all the niceness of this world.I admonish him to stay on course and do what needs to be done.

That is, commend her efforts.

That’s the thing. When you stop appreciating efforts, one day people give up. Don’t be that person who stops giving encouragement when it’s due. Those words of encouragement keep efforts going, work happening and people moving upwards on the progress chart.

As I head back home, my heart is so full, as the pretty Air India hostess offers me food, it wells up and shows up in my eyes… should I ‘claim’ the privileges of my world or should I receive them with thankfulness?!  I decide for the latter.

‘Experience epic everyday’ is my tagline for things big and small this year. Let the churn of  ‘अमृत-मंथन’ keep you heady and  in a state of ‘woke’ for all times to come.
